Description:
This webinar will provide an evidence-based overview of exercise prescriptions for health and performance, emphasizing how heart rate zones correspond to energy system utilization (aerobic vs. anaerobic metabolism, fat vs. carbohydrate oxidation). Participants will examine strategies to apply heart rate goals in training, explore the relationship between heart rate variability and recovery, and evaluate nutrition implications for supporting energy demands across different exercise intensities.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Differentiate between heart rate zones and identify the predominant energy systems and fuel sources (fat, carbohydrate) engaged at each level.

  2. Analyze the physiological and lifestyle factors that influence heart rate variability and exercise adaptation.

  3. Evaluate nutrition strategies that align with energy utilization in different heart rate zones to optimize performance and health outcomes.

Speaker Bio: Morgan has been a Registered Dietitian for over 10 years, with a dual Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Exercise Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and a Master of Science in Nutrition and Physical Performance from Saint Louis University. She has worked in several settings like hospitals, clinics, and gyms, and has been a renal dietitian for over 9 years. She is also a Certified Exercise Physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine. Her background of over 15 years in the fitness industry has ranged from group fitness instructor to one-on-one fitness trainer to head fitness coach roles, and she has been a coach at Orangetheory Fitness for over 7 years. She also has a private practice called Motivate, where she provides nutrition coaching, personal fitness training, and speaking for wellness events. Her passion for health and wellness stems from growing up as an athlete and dancer - she spent several years traveling and teaching at dance camps, went on to dance professionally in the NBA for 6 seasons, and still judges dance competitions regularly.
