Title: Sustaining Health Through Nourishment: Food Outreach’s Medically Tailored Meal Programs & Research Insights

Description: Join AND‐STL for an engaging webinar spotlighting Food Outreach, the only St. Louis–area nonprofit offering free medically tailored meals (MTMs), nutrition education, and dietetic counseling to individuals living with HIV and cancer. Hear firsthand about their comprehensive programs ranging from frozen, scratch-prepared MTMs and grocery distributions to individualized nutrition therapy and learn how local research, including a pilot with Washington University’s Brown School, informs and improves nutritional care models for chronic illness. We’ll explore how Food Outreach has served nearly 2,000 clients across 164 zip codes, distributing over 600,000 meals annually, and how medically tailored nutrition can serve as a powerful tool in patient-centered health care. Discover how their programs address food and nutrition insecurity, support treatment outcomes, and pave the way for sustainable interventions during and beyond active treatment.

Speaker: Taylor Aarns MS, RD, LD, Registered Dietitian at Food Outreach, Inc.

Saturday, March 28th @ 8am-12pm: End National Nutrition Month® with a volunteer event at Operation Food Search! Register: HERE!

Opportunity Description: Food Outreach provides medically tailored meals and nutritional support to individuals battling food insecurity and a diagnosis of HIV or cancer. Volunteers that help with our Cook & Pack opportunities work with our Chef and Red Aprons to help cook, pack, and freeze between 5,000 and 10,000 scratch prepared meals for our clients in one day!

Attire: We ask that volunteers wear comfortable clothing and closed-toed shoes. You are more than welcome to wear team t-shirts/company apparel (this always makes for a good photo-op)! We will supply aprons and hairnets for you, but you are also welcome to bring your own baseball hat.

Parking: We have a free parking lot on site that volunteers are welcome to use. Our lot is fairly small, so we ask that, if possible, you carpool with a few of your group members to save room for our clients to park close to our entrance. If the lot is full when you arrive, there is ample street parking surrounding our building.

Location: 3117 Olive Street, St. Louis, MO 63103

Other Notes: When you arrive on site at 7:50, please look for the individuals in Red Aprons and let them know you're there to volunteer. They help lead our Cook & Packs and will be able to give you an introduction and direct you on what you'll be helping with!
